Life has twists and turns that no one can predict. If you think you have your life sorted than something will surely turn it upside down before you know it. To truly enjoy life, you have to be able to deal with unplanned changes. As the old proverb goes, life is like a river and we must flow with it or be eroded away. One woman’s story is the best evidence that we have seen of this very fact.

Katy Collins met her sweetheart while at university. After graduating they moved in together and were soon engaged to be married. A few months before their wedding her fiancé admitted he had been seeing other women and suddenly the wedding was off. Collins and her ex had spent 25,000 pounds on the wedding. She was left single and broke. While many would see this as a low point in their life, Collins saw it as a new beginning. She sold everything she owned and quit her job. She then decided to travel the world.

Her Instagram handle is aptly called @notwedordead and shows how the death of her wedding was not the death of her, She started to travel the world on a shoestring budget. Overall she made it to 40 countries and learned more about life than if she had stayed at home. She started to publish books and became a best selling author with the series ‘The Lonely Hearts Travel Club’.

Her story went viral and one of the first reporters to write about her was John Skiddle who worked with the Liverpool Echo. As with any good rom-com, the pair fell in love. Fast forward a few years and Collins finally got the wedding that she had thought about so many years before, except this time it was with a man she could trust.

Collins has recently given birth to her first child, Everleigh. She has published her fourth book and has now been to over 40 countries in the world. She says that when Everleigh is old enough they will continue to see the world together.

If you are going through a hard time right now and feel like the world is darkening around you, look for the light at the end of the tunnel that is always there. When things are bad they will get better. Just as economies have boom and bust cycles, so too does life. In the worst situation is the opportunity to do something amazing.
