It sounds like superstition and most would laugh it off, however when it comes to weddings, few would start planning the wedding itself until after they were engaged. You just don’t want to jinx it!
Today weddings are tough to organize. You have the dream venue that is booked up for the next three years, the dream dress that is the same price as a mortgage, the dream honeymoon that only has sunshine two months in a year and so on and so on. There is so much to plan for a wedding that if you want to have everything just perfect you often have to plan years in advance.
This can be difficult if you are eager to marry the love of your life. If they are the love of your life, didn’t you know you were going to marry them long before the engagement took place? If so, why wait for the engagement to start planning.
To many, the engagement has become a formality. A sort of, official date when the plan was put in place. Increasingly it is becoming a tradition when in reality couples are talking about their marriage plans for some time beforehand.
If you are in a relationship where you are discussing your marriage openly it may make sense to start booking some things now to ensure the engagement duration is not too long when it comes around. However, if you haven’t openly discussed it, do not buy your wedding dress now because you happened to see the perfect one. If your partner sees that dress at the wrong time, he will run for the hills!
