How to unshrink woolen clothes?

The problem of the shrunk woolen jumper is a significant problem we face every winter. Even one wash and the amazing stylish winter clothes can be destroyed. Try this hack to renew your shrunk woolen clothes.

While it’s cold in the city, we just keep on repeating some of our favorite woolen clothes every winter. Whether you accept or not, there is always a snuggler that you have been wearing for many years. But then one day, it shrinks and damages suddenly. Let’s bring back your favorite snuggler. This trick can help you restore the sweater, aka your favorite snuggler to its former glory.

Most of us have heard that a shrunken sweater cannot be corrected to its old, new form. Well, that is a myth, and sweaters can be maintained with some handy wardrobe tips.

Why does the wool shrink?

Other fabrics remain in the same condition after wash, but it has been quite a mystery that wool always shrinks after washing and does not maintain its older self. Well, it is not a mystery anymore. As stated by the Nationwide Cleaners Association, wool comprises an outer coating of scales warmth, mechanical, and moisture activity induces the sulfur fiber to the borders of these leaves into interlock, preventing the fiber from coming into the original location. To put it differently, once you pop this, it results in this yarn to a psychologist in a manner meaning the fiber will not allow it to enlarge outside against the fiber.

How to unshrink the wool?

If you have by mistake tossed your favorite snuggle in the washing machine, fear not it can be returned to its glory with some simple steps. This hack is handy and can instantly make your sweater look new.

Follow the steps to unshrink your sweater:

  • Fill the bucket with lukewarm water and add ⅓ cup of conditioner in it.
  • Soak your loved snuggler in it for about 10 minutes.
  • Now drain the sweater after 10 minutes from the bucket and rinse it thoroughly.
  • Make sure not to wire the sweater of water instead, place it in a towel sandwich and gently press it.
  • Stretch the sweater back in its original shape and let it dry naturally.

Folks, there is just one rule that you need to follow- do not push your light knit sweaters, cardigans in the hard washer, or dryer. That will take a toll on the fiber strings of the sweater and ultimately ruin it. Therefore, the best option is to hand wash the sweater separately and let it dry in a light, airy atmosphere. Another way of cleaning the sweater is when you wash it with the soap flakes, take care first to rinse the sweater in it. After that rinse, rinse the sweater in cold water a few times till the soap flakes are all out of the sweater and then repeat the drying process as mentioned above.
