There are many wedding blogs online, this is just one of them. Of course, we think that ours is the best and that it provides all the information that you need in the run up to your wedding day. Yet even the great ‘All Good Wedding’ blog is sometimes guilty of writing more articles for the bride than the groom. Our research has shown that far more women read wedding blog articles than men do and we will always cater to our audience. However, men do read these blogs as well and we are here to provide information to all our readers. That is why this blog is entirely for male readers (or for women readers who know their men need a little help). Ladies and gentlemen here is everything the groom needs to remember on the big day.

Take it easy

The first thing to remember is not to drink too much the night before. I know what you are thinking that is not the big day, but it has a very large impact on how the big day will run. We know, some friends are in town that you haven’t seen for a long time. You are nervous and can’t sleep. A couple of drinks could settle your nerves. All of this may be true but remember that tomorrow is one of the most important days of your life. While there will be plenty more sessions with your friends there will never be another wedding day (fingers crossed).

Drink water

Be polite and go out for a couple of drinks and get to bed by 10 pm. For one night act in this responsible way. Drink a large glass of water before you go to sleep and you will wake up ready for action the next day. Ensure that you continue to drink water throughout the day as it is going to be a long one. Staying hydrated is the key to success.

Wake up

Set a good alarm in the morning and by good we mean multiple. You do not want to wake up late on your wedding day so ensure you are up. Set some alarms and ask one of your groomsmen to wake you instead. Do remember that your groomsmen likely didn’t stop drinking so early last night so you may be better off asking a relative instead.

Get a gift

The wedding has cost you a lot of money. Your bride got an engagement ring and you got nothing. Yet the giving is not over yet. On the wedding day, you should start the day by giving your bride a small but meaningful gift. This may be a piece of jewelry or a watch but whatever it is it must be something that she will cherish forever. Give the gift to your bride in the morning or if you are staying away from one another get a member of the wedding party to do the gifting for you.

The plan

Run over the plan one last time. Make sure you know every nugget and detail. You are likely giving a speech later in the day so ensure you practice that a couple of times and maybe now is the time to reconsider that risky joke that you were brave enough to include a few weeks earlier.

Let’s not lie. The wedding day is easier for the groom. Enjoy yourself, have a great time, be there for your beautiful bride when she needs you, and don’t mess up the small number of tasks you have been given. Take some mental pictures of the key moments so that you can always remember and cherish them.
