In the age of modern romance technology always seems to play a role. Whether the couple met on tinder, or survived a long-distance 6 months thanks to Skype, or bonded over their love of catching pokemon, technology is never far away from the happy and sad moments of a relationship. When it comes to marriage, does technology have a role to play? Is a wedding website really required?
In short, the answer is no. For years before the internet, couples successfully had weddings without their own website. In fact, not many people know this but there was life before the internet. Scary but true. However, that is not to say that the internet has not made things a lot easier. The same is true for the wedding website, it makes a lot of sense.
Consider the important information. The date, the time, the food (dietary requirements), the dress code, the weather, parking information and more are all little pieces of information that your guests may need. While you could fit it all in a save the date having a wedding website allows you to change the information as and when you see fit.
The downside of this is that not many people actually look at the wedding website. Most guests will read the information once and never return. If you change the information you end up contacting everyone again anyway and saying, have you seen the latest update on the site.
In theory, the wedding website is a beautiful thing, in practice, it feels a little forced. As if you have made a cool website and really want everyone to see it when no one really cares. In reality, a save the date will do perfectly and if anything changes a nice email will always do the trick. After all, a more personal touch is always the way to go.
