Best ways to shrink your leather boots

Leather is considered as the most beautiful, durable and expensive fabric. The only con of having leather is that it stretches out with the time. If you are facing problems and your boots have expended then, you must check out the following ways to shink your leather boots at home. Although shrinking leather is a regular task, it can get damaged in the process if it is not done correctly.

Have a glance at the following ways:

  • Wet method

Although water and leather are not good friends but using a small amount of water can ensure to shirk your leather boats. First, soak the leather boots into the water. Secondly, soak a thick pair of socks as well. Thirdly, wear the soaked socks and the drenched shoes, then walk around.

You can use hair dryers to speed up the process. Leather boots are bound to shrink while drying, so you must keep them on during the entire process.

  • Spraying alcohol

Even though spraying alcohol is an excellent way to shrink your leather shoes, but you must try to avoid alcohol as much as possible. Alcohol is quite harsh as compared to water, but some leathers are extra stiff, so they just can’t work with water. Spray a generous amount of alcohol on the extra stiff leather boots and then blow it with a hairdryer. Make sure to keep the heat low to reduce the chances of damage.

  • Stuff them for a quick solution

If you are in a hurry for any work, then you must choose this option.  It is a swift and damage-free remedy to fit in your loose boots. You can stuff your boots with tissue paper, cotton or newspaper until they are of your size. It is just a temporary solution which would not work for longer hours. It would prove to be an uncomfortable and inconvenient option to wear all day long.

Try this method, only in case of an emergency.

  • Try wearing thick pair of socks

Wearing a pair of socks is a temporary yet effective method to fit into your big leather boots.

It can also be an effective method, but still, it is a temporary method. It is a secure method to try on for long day use. It works best with cowboy boots and also proves to be an effective method to avoid long boots from slouching.

  • You can try thick insoles.

One more method that you can try is to add thick insoles in each of your leather boots.

It makes the boots useful without meeting any damage. Add a thick insole in each boot, or you can also try adding two insoles in each of them.

  • Last but not least, try a cobbler!

If none of the above works, then you must give your leather boots to the cobbler to mend them. Only the cobbler can restitch your boots in the accurate size.

Leather boots are everyone’s desire, and if you have one, then you must take care of it in the best possible way. In case you have a long pair of boots, then you must try the tricks mentioned above to resolve your problem within no time.
